Dear wind...

Please stop blowing gale force gusts around. You are making it nearly impossible to get a decent picture of anything outside. =/.
I had all kinds of great pictures planned... Guess the wind didn't get the memo. I got a lot of pictures of blurry lavender, non focused coriander seeds, and a ton of other useless pics. Of course the wind decides to blow only once I put the camera up to my eye.... Weather sucks sometimes.

However this weekend does look like it will have some amazing photo ops. The 8th annual Pork and Brew will be in town. *jumps up and down excitedly* My family is coming up this weekend so we will def be enjoying that spectacular. Monday is the 4th, but I am going to the Rihanna and Cee-Lo concert, I wish I could take pics, but its a no video no removable lens camera concert and I'm terrified if I take my camera they will confiscate it and I'll be out a very expensive camera. Guess its just me and my blackberry that night, if I could find my kodak I'd pack that but alas that has been buried in the garage. Plus I don't remember where my charger is. le sigh. I may just snag my stepson's camera since he never uses it lol.

That is where I stand today, no pictures ( my blog looks so plain and boring sans pictures). Hopefully there will be pictures after this weekend [maybe sooner, lets all cross our fingers and hope lol].

So till then, live long and prosper... err wait, nano nano... no that's not right... I'll just stick with have a great day and happy weekend!!

Fishing expedition.

First, I have nearly reached my flickr limit for the month =(, so all my photos will have to be uploaded via blogger. [insert annoyed sigh and eye rolling] I apologize since I can only upload 2-3 at a time. I'd go back to photobucket but its annoying me just as much. lol.

On to the topic on hand... Today we took bebe and our son fishing down at Tingley beach. Tingley Beach is part of ABQ bio park that offers 3 fishing ponds and a geese/duck pond for feeding. Its really nice and right next to the bosque and Rio Grande. We were completely unlucky and caught nothing, other than some moss/gross pond scum stuff lol. Bebe did not enjoy it as much as the rest of us and let us know in no uncertain terms that she didn't like being in her stroller that much.

This duck totally reminded me of the Rumplestiltskin's duck in Shrek Forever after.

There are always a ton of geese hanging around

I had no bread so (s)he was mad dogging me.... *creeps away slowly*

I have a DSLR, but I'm not claiming to be a pro.

Lately I have been in the library digging out all kinds of books about photography, how to decipher all those terms, how to get out of shooting with my auto mode, and general books featuring some amazing photographers. Its been a fantastic learning experience. There is a lot I learned, your camera has so little to do with it. Its the eye behind it that matters, the vision you are able to execute rather than how to fix your picture in photoshop. [by the way I do not own photoshop, although I did download elements so I could make a watermark... still working onthat btw lol]
Here's a pic of my stash of photo books. Each one is making more aware of how far I have left to go..

Even Lalaloopsy needs to stop and look out the window sometimes

A few weeks ago I was with my 8 year old buying her bff her birthday gift. They had these mini Lalaloopsy dolls on clearance at Target... Of course I couldn't pass it up.
The complete set ( sadly I had to set up on my coffee table all my shots on the milk crate were too dark.)

New Mexico Museum of Natural History and Science

This museum is the only one in Albuquerque participating in the Blue Star program. [For those who don't know the Blue Star Museum is a program that allows free admission to any participating museum from Memorial day thru Labor day, for active duty, reserve members and their families.]
We decided it would be a good day to take in a museum
Forgive me I don't remember everything so i won't caption everything, just what I remember lol.

These are a few of my favorite things!

Its pretty much the only line I ever remember from that song despite hearing it a million times. Guess its just not catchy enough lol.

Finally my cherry tomatoes turned red and are ready to eat! Of course now that I've harvested them I don't want to eat them, I want to yell to everyone LOOK!!! LOOK WHAT I GREW!!! I GREW THESE!! MARVAL AT MY GROWING TALENTS!! Which of course is completely unreasonable, but doesn't stop the feeling of wanting to carry them around for a bit and tell everyone. I suppose that is why I have a blog.

BEHOLD EVERYONE!!! LOOK, LOOK AT MY TOMATO GROWING ABILITY!!! MARVAL AT MY AMAZING TALENT!!!!

Next up, literally some of my favorite things. There is nothing I love more than the smell of Yankee candle's fresh cut roses candle. It is just one of my all time favorite scents.( forgive the crookedness, I am having some issues when I take a portrait picture with over compensating, I'm working on it.)

Last month my parents gave me their old espresso machine. I thought I died and went to heaven. I love, love starbuck's caramel macchiato, but hate the price. With my new second hand espresso machine the power of the macchiato can be mine!!! Starbucks espresso roast, some vanilla syrup and caramel syrup. life is good.

Santa Fe.

Last month we took a day trip up to Santa Fe. It has some amazing opportunities for photographs.

The irony of this sign always makes me laugh.

I'm probably the worst person when it comes to remembering what I am taking pictures of. I need a notebook so I can write things down as I go. At any rate this is a beautiful statue. I just don't know anything about it lol.

Sometimes I take pictures of really random things...

I'm trying to improve my photography, one picture at a time. Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't.

I still have real books, occasionally I thumb through one just to remember what it feels like. I kid I kid... I still love books, whether on my nook or the old fashioned kind

I love Taco Bell sauce. It helps that they have funny sayings on them.

And sometimes they say the truth as well.
